Christmas has come early for Pat Foley who was presented
with a new wheelchair by Abbey Mobility onTuesday following a radio appeal. The Carrigtwohill man couldn’t afford to repair his broken wheelchair
and was finding it increasingly difficult to get around.
Eddie Leahy, a friend of Pat’s, contacted the Neil Prendeville Show on 96FM and as luck would have it Tim Morley of Abbey Mobility was listening to the show and he and his company were only too happy to help. “I heard Pat’s story on Neil’s show on 96FM,” says Tim, “and I thought to myself that we at Abbey Mobility could help
him out, so I contacted the show and we exchanged details. At this time of year
its nice to give something back to the people of Cork city and county for all the
support they give us during the year, and so if we can Pat Foley, who was presented with a brand new wheelchair by Abbey Mobility, on Tuesday to help make Pat’s life a little easier to get to the shops in his condition, then we
are glad to help, because at Abbey Mobility, we care”.Pat told the Cork Independent
he is overwhelmed by the generosity displayed by Abbey Mobility. “I had to start using crutches to get around so it would take me a long time to get up the village and back and I was exhausted. ] My friend Eddie Leahy got in contact with 96FM and he asked them was there any chance they could help me out, and luckily Tim
was listening to the show. I couldn’t believe that I was going to get a brand new
wheelchair for free. “I would just like to say thank you to Tim and everyone
at Abbey Mobility. I’m delighted with my new wheelchair and I am now
going to fi nd it a lot easier to get about now thanks to
their generosity. It’s a great start to Christmas!”
